Biography

Dr. Caroline L. Tait is a Professor and a Canada Research Chair, Tier 1 nominee in the Faculty of Social Work and the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary.  She is founder of the First Nations and Metis Organ Donation and Transplanation Network, the first of its kind in Canada.  Dr. Tait is a member of the Metis Nations-Saskatchewan, and grew up in her Indigenous community and continues to work closely with Indigenous peoples across Canada and internationally. Dr. Tait holds a Masters in Medical Anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a PhD in Anthropology from McGill University, Montreal. Dr. Tait led two large Indigenous health research centers prior to accepting the CRC nomination at the University of Calgary in 2023.
